THE PUB
Inspired by my grandfather’s hand written pub journals covering over 2000 pubs over four decades, ‘The Pub’ is an ongoing project celebrating the rich history and quirky details of our local boozers.
In my work I try to explore what makes a pub listening to the conversations and the groups that frequent the space. I love this idea that the same chats are had in these spaces even decades apart, it’s comforting and grounding in a society that increasingly pushes hyper-independence and not community.
I fell down a rabbit hole of visiting his favorite establishments for visual research. I found that showcasing the old and new together became central to my concept, using traditional linens and hand crocheted lace found in junk shops with modern techniques like digital embroidery.
